NEWTON, Mass. — Sexual wellness brand plusOne's Jamie Leventhal has been featured in a recent New York Times article.
In "The Man Who’s Putting More Sex Toys on Walmart’s Shelves" NYT contributor Katie Van Syckle explores Leventhal's journey from small retailer who specialized in personal grooming products to supplying 4,300 of Walmart's brick and mortar stores as well as online shelves with a line of basic yet refined sex toys.
"I want to become the Kleenex of sex toys," mused Leventhal, "the brand that you associate with sex toys.”
Since its launch last fall, plusOne has rolled out a personal massager, vibrating C-ring, a mini bullet and a dual-stim vibe, with plans to launch four new products this August and a vibrating silicone feather in the first quarter of 2020.
A clitoral stimulator along with a mini personal massager, cleaning wipes and a lubricant are slated to make their debut this summer.
Walmart reps noted that while they also carry vibrators from Trojan, Durex and Lifestyles, the plusOne line marks a "much bigger move into sex toys."
Designed to be high-end, plusOne products are waterproof, rechargeable and made with body-safe silicone, "features once found only on products sold at sex shops and online," and are priced at significantly more affordable rates than "designer vibes."
PlusOne is also carried by Target and Amazon. As the article notes, they've sold over a million units since their October launch. Reps from Clio, plusOne's parent company project that sex toys will soon become the majority of the products that they ship.
