HAMBURG, Germany — The city of Hamburg is laying claim to Germany's first-ever bar dedicated to the niche nightlife revelry that is "porno karaoke."
From famed German drag queen Olivia Jones, Porno Karaoke Bar opened its doors earlier this week, inviting guests visiting the city's infamous St. Pauli district to moan and shriek along to their favorite retro porn scenes in either solo or "battle mode."
"Everyone can sing karaoke," teases the venue's motto, "but Porno Karaoke is an art." The new location is reportedly decked out in vintage adult posters, rubber dolls and a generous amount of glitter to help set the mood for raunchy debauchery.
As the owner of several bars and clubs in the city's notorious nightlife district, Jones told the Hamburger Abendblatt, "It's funnier than I thought it would be. At the beginning, people are reserved and don't dare to try it out," continuing on to explain that once the crowd gets going, there's no stopping them.
Lex Dildo serves as master of ceremonies, occasionally intervening with appropriately timed interjections of sing-songy moans and groans — a kind of "foreplay," if you will, to help encourage nervous performers before they take the stage.
As reported by Germany's DW.com, visitors can currently choose from a selection of approximately 30 clips from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s, which play soundlessly in the background for brave patrons to vocalize, dirty talk and all.
While the venture is seemingly in a trial run phase for the time being, local Hamburg news site Kiekmo reported that Porno Karaoke is open for business Friday and Saturday evenings from 9 p.m. (GMT+2) behind Olivia's Show Club for those looking to get a little naughty in Hamburg's red-light district.
