LOS ANGELES — Adult performer, ex-Marine and No-Gi pro Will Pounder has put out a call for sponsors for his team at Kinektic's inaugural submission grappling event.
The August 16 event is set to feature four competing teams of five people each in a tournament culminating in a championship final round. The competition will be streamed live from the Anaheim Business Expo Center at 7 p.m. (PDT) on UFC Fight Pass.
Pounder has signed on to compete under team captain Chris ‘Lights Out’ Lytle, alongside fellow teammates Ricco Rodriguez, Joe ‘Diesel’ Riggs and Mansher ‘Munch’ Khera and team trainer Just Dave.
Dave noted, “I’ve never seen anyone learn like Will. He can learn in a conversation and be able to apply those techniques and defenses immediately," adding, "and he can finish a fight in two minutes.”
Pounder, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2007 to 2012, has previously taught the All-Marine Grappling Team, ran the All-Marine Competition Team at Camp Pendleton and started a jiu-jitsu club before joining the adult industry in 2017.
"In those jiu-jitsu days I was known as a 'black belt killer' for 'submitting' black belts, which is extremely rare," said Pounder.
Now, he and Dave are seeking sponsors, including adult studios, novelty companies and others looking to reach a new audience of consumers via the Kinektic tournament on UFC Fight Pass.
The competition will comprise bouts with eight-minute time limits in the semifinals before one team is named the winner in the championship round.
Notably, the particular style of the Kinektic Grappling event forbids punches in favor of submission-style wrestling, which exclusively allows for chokes and joint locks, explained Just Dave, team coach and tactician.
