LOS ANGELES — "Shameless Sex" hosts April Lampert and Amy Baldwin tackled the topic of STIs in this week's episode of the sex-positive podcast.
In "The STD (aka STI) Episode," Lampert and Baldwin were joined by special guest Remy Paille, a nurse practitioner, to address a handful of topics related to sexual health, including STIs, birth control, hormonal changes and nutritional supplements.
“STIs are consistently on the rise and it is still a topic engrossed in shame and guilt," said Lampert. “There seems to be a lack of understanding and openness in sharing — people are obviously hungry for a way to normalize their experience so they don't feel alone and broken. This podcast opened some serious floodgates!”
Lampert shared that since the episode aired, they've received an outpouring of support from listeners applauding them for their candid real-talk on a subject often viewed as too taboo to broach.
“We have received more emails of praise and gratitude from this than any of our other shows,” said Lampert. “It’s a topic most of the public don’t like to speak on, and we wanted to address this and let people know that there is no shame in contracting an STI — it is more normal than anyone can imagine.”
"Shameless Sex" is available via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, YouTube and other apps.
In related news, Lampert and Baldwin will appear at the upcoming Sex Expo New York, held September 21-22 at the Brooklyn Expo Center, where the duo will meet fans and talk "Shameless Sex" from their booth.
