CYBERSPACE — Longtime adult filmmaker and performer Nacho Vidal has released a video in which he directly addresses rumors that he has AIDS.
The nearly 16-minute clip, subtitled in English and shot in low light with a dramatic underscore, features Vidal speaking frankly, and emotionally, to the camera. He reveals how he was first informed of his diagnosis and the actions he took immediately afterwards.
Vidal notes he'd been tested prior to a trip to Colombia, where he filmed with seven women, and learned of an HIV-positive diagnosis after he completed production. He says all seven women were immediately advised to stop filming and to re-test, at his expense. Vidal claims the seven women have since returned negative HIV tests.
He also sent a message, via a group chat on WhatsApp, advising producers and agencies in Budapest of his situation. Vidal believes that message was leaked to the media and emotionally details an intrusive, troubling media swarm that resulted as reporters and others contacted his elderly mother and young children for comment. He offers the context for why he told a newspaper reporter that the news that he has AIDS is "not true."
"I am not hiding myself," he says. "The first thing I did was call the seven people I worked with (and) the biggest agency in Budapest, where all the girls were saying I contracted the disease, the HIV virus, okay? And they attacked me. They attacked me from all sides. Maybe I should have remained silent. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything... It would have been easier."
He notes other European performers, unnamed, who have quietly left the industry upon learning they tested positive. "I have the courage, the strength, professionalism, humanity, to confirm what was happening. And for that I was pointed at, I was insulted. On social media the bullying was excessive. The haters were really pleased."
Vidal thanked those who have offered him support and encouragement.
"And now I'm gonna tell you why I answered the newspaper that way," he says, as the video, which includes "Part One" in its title, draws to a close. "It's very simple. I'm gonna show the test right here — a couple of images, drawing my blood, live! Performing the test, live! — so you can see that Nacho Vidal, as much as it hurts, you motherfuckers, doesn't have AIDS."
The clip, which also appears on Vidal's verified Twitter profile, has accumulated nearly 97,000 views at post time. View the complete video below:
