LOS ANGELES — Virtual reality director Anna Lee has debuted “The Black Box Collection, Season 1,” a 14-episode ASMR VR series. The series marks the first release by Lee’s production company, 2049 Entertainment, in collaboration with PVR.fun.
“What makes ‘Black Box’ unique is that it’s an ASMR series of solo scenes specifically shot in a way that viewers of all genders can enjoy the experience,” Lee said. “While the scenes are unscripted, the performers’ dialogue is gender-neutral and non-binary to be inclusive of all fans of erotic VR.”
The series got its name from the set where the project was staged: a large black box designed exclusively for the production by industry veteran Alex Ladd, who also served as the project’s Director of Photography.
“The choice to place the performer in an all-black space was made to invoke a sense of suspended reality, allowing you to focus only on what is in front of you, the performer, and to hear exactly what is happening with the audio,” Lee explained. “Audio plays an extremely important role. Using ASMR techniques and influence to really create a total immersive experience — it’s what I feel is lacking in a lot of the current VR productions today and the entire reason why VR exists.”
The star-studded series features Tera Patrick, Penny Pax, Kira Noir, Kenzie Taylor, Charlotte Stokely, Cherie DeVille, Missy Martinez, Lily Lane, Katy Jayne, Lyra Law, Elena Koshka, Audrey Noir and Ela Darling, who also worked as the production manager for the series.
“I’m so honored to have been a part of making ‘Black Box’ come to life. It’s been a longtime goal of mine to work with Anna Lee, so being able to both perform in the series and help produce it was a dream come true,” Darling declared. “The footage is impeccable, and every scene is unique to the performer being featured. It’s visually stunning, authentic and hypnotizing.”
As with her previous work, Lee crafted each scene around the individual performer being showcased.
“Every scene is tailored to the performer, her specific strengths and skills and a lot of her personality. I wanted the viewer to feel like they were actually sitting with the performer,” Lee said. “‘Black Box’ is my best work to date. It is also the first series where I was able to really achieve something new and unparalleled using the VR medium.”
All 14 episodes will be available immediately on the release date but fans can catch an exclusive free preview of a Comic-Con inspired scene featuring Darling today on PVR.fun before the entire collection debuts on Friday.
