NEW YORK — New York Toy Collective (NYTC) has signed on to participate in Red Canary SCREAM, a fundraising event for Red Canary Song, providing raffle and giveaway items for the event.
Set for this Saturday in Brooklyn, New York from 2-8 p.m. (EDT), the event is being billed as a "historic grand gathering of the Asian American underground," uniting the queer, burlesque, drag, fetish, tattoo and circus communities for an "extravaganza of entertainment and eroticism."
Hosted by Drag King Wang Newton, the afternoon will include several performances, as well as on-site kink experiences such as bootblacking, rope bondage, flogging and hanky-code flagging, courtesy of Mistress Lucy Sweetkill and Domina Dia Dynasty. Additionally, tattoo, photo and sexuality coaching sessions will be up for bid in a silent auction, and prints, merchandise, and event-themed embroidery will be available for purchase.
NYTC co-founder, Chelsea Downs, said of the event, “Red Canary’s mission statement is in line with our core values; we are glad to support their work.
“FOSTA/SESTA have been devastating to the livelihood of sex workers, and it is more important than ever to show public solidarity, and support the rights of sex workers. NYTC has always been outspoken about politics, and the rights of migrant sex workers is no exception.”
Founded in 2017 following the tragic death of Yang Song, a Chinese migrant sex worker who fell to her death following a police raid at a massage parlor, Red Canary Song is a grassroots organization led by immigrant and Asian sex workers, survivors of trafficking and labor organizers from adjacent movements. The organization also works closely with DecrimNY "to ensure the most marginalized sex workers are protected in future decriminalization policies," offered a rep.
Yin Q of Kink Out Events, a co-producer of the event, expressed thanks in regards to NYTC's contribution. “We are incredibly grateful for the immense support of sex positive communities and businesses, such as NYTC. Come join us in celebration of erotic talents, kink and Asian heritage, as we simultaneously raise funds for the dire work of Red Canary Song.”
