LAS VEGAS — The Erotic Heritage Museum (EHM) in Las Vegas is tub-thumping “A Life of Dirty Jokes and Whiskey: The Musical,” which begins a residency today in the Jewel Box Theatre.
The musical will run Tuesdays through Saturday from 3:30-5 p.m. (PST).
The four-act musical explores “the real-life debauchery,” a rep explains, of comedian and cult figure Ricky Lawrence. The performer “traveled the back roads of comedy for years” and notably earned the distinction of appearing in the final moments of the highly viewed last episodes of “Cheers” (as the man in silhouette who knocks on the door of the bar) and “MASH” (as the helicopter pilot in the sitcom’s closing moments).
Victoria Hartmann, director of the EHM, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition to their lineup.
"Vegas' cultural life has become so rich and diverse over the past decade," she said. "We feel our daytime musical will add to that diversity while presenting a bawdy and fun option for travelers who are not looking for mainstream fare."
