Pineapple Support Launches Performer Support Group

LOS ANGELES — Pineapple Support will host an eight-week adult performer support group in West Hollywood. Kicking off today, sex therapist Dr. Amie Harwick will facilitate with a focus on performer well-being.

Designed to encourage sex workers to process emotional struggles and gain subsequent insight into their behaviors and feelings, the group will touch on family relationships, traumatic incidents, grief issues, relapse triggers and stressful situations, among other topics.

Pineapple Support founder Leya Tanit further explained that the group will provide a "safe and confidential space that will serve to allow clients to feel seen and supported by others with similar life experiences as well as providing support, empathy and referrals when needed."

“I’m extremely thankful to Dr. Harwick for leading this support group and I know the value she will bring to all the sex workers taking part,” she concluded.

Pineapple Support was founded in 2018 by Tanit in response to losses in the adult industry from depression and other mental illnesses. The organization, which is a registered nonprofit in the United States and a registered charity in the U.K., has so far connected over 700 adult performers to mental health services, including free and low-cost, therapy, counseling and emotional support.

Sessions will run weekly on Mondays through March 23 and begin at 12 p.m. (PST). To reserve a place, click here
