Female-Founded Startup Hits Halfway Point on Kickstarter Campaign

LONDON — With the recent launch of a Kickstarter campaign for Ella, a wearable app-controlled vibrator designed for external stimulation, reps from the female-founded startup Vibio have announced that they've since surpassed over 50 percent of their fundraising goal.

With just 12 days to go, backers still have the opportunity to help Vibio reach their £30,000 goal. Perks for backers include Vibio merch, as well as several tiers of discounts on Ella.

Alma and Patricia, founders of Vibio, began their journey in the sexual wellness space in 2018 with an aim to create a brand "that advocates for sex positivity and body positivity." According to reps, their mission is to "encourage people to be more explorative and open about their sexuality," by integrating innovative design and app technology into new products.

The brand's debut product, Ella, is ergonomically designed to sit comfortably between the wearer's labia. It is fully waterproof, discreet, lightweight and app-controlled, allowing users to connect via Bluetooth to control the device remotely. Users can play solo or with a partner to explore different vibration patterns, speeds and intensities, and even set "pleasure targets" and challenges to work towards together.

Regarding their pending Kickstarter success, Vibio founders shared a sincere thanks for those who have backed them thus far. “Apart from helping us launch Ella, [you] are [also] helping a female-led startup break through and make a positive change to peoples sexual wellness and pleasure."

With two rounds of working prototypes developed and tested, Vibio reps say that they are now ready to begin tooling, production and shipping to backers.
