AUSTIN, Texas — Screenwriter, author and former camgirl Isa Mazzei will present a seminar at the upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, discussing her time as a sex worker, her transition to screenwriting with the acclaimed techno-thriller "Cam," and her recent memoir, "Camgirl."
Set for Sunday, March 15 at the Austin Convention, Mazzei will first be presenting the seminar, "From Camgirl to Screenwriter: The Labor" from 3:30-4:30 p.m. (CST), followed by a book signing from 4:45-5:30 p.m.
Named as one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Film 2018” and Paper Magazine’s “People Taking over 2019,” Mazzei has also been featured in GQ, Nylon, Esquire, Playboy, OUT Magazine and Vice.
Following the debut of her first feature film, Blumhouse’s "Cam," which premiered on Netflix in late 2018 to critical acclaim, Mazzei has gone on to write "Camgirl," a memoir of her life and times as a sex worker balancing exploration, new discoveries and self-acceptance in an increasingly public digital landscape.
Since its release, "Camgirl" has been named one of NPR’s best books of 2019, presenting a "candid and hilarious memoir of sex work, shame and self-discovery, set in the colorful world of live-streaming camgirls," relates a rep.
Mazzei recently spoke to XBIZ about the development of "Cam." Click here to read the interview.
