Sunny Rodgers Delivers Online Lecture for UCLA Sex Therapy Students

LOS ANGELES — Due to California's mandatory lockdown, Sunny Rodgers, PhD student and clinical sexologist, presented her lecture for the Couples and Sex Therapy Training Program, within UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, as an online seminar this year.

Rodgers is a returning speaker for the program; this lecture her fourth year with UCLA. The intensive lecture series is overseen by the American Association of Couples and Sex Therapists (AACAST), an organization dedicated to the education, training, promotion and expansion of integrated skills and knowledge for couples and sex therapy.

Regarding the shift to online, Rodgers shared, "I am always honored to speak with medical and psychiatric students about the sexual wellness and health benefits that can be attainable with pleasure products."

"This year was different because of California’s strict 'stay-at-home' orders to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. I presented my lecture live online and although the students weren’t able to touch and feel the many products I shared, they still learned a lot of valuable information and were able to ask comprehensive questions."

In her lecture, Rodgers spoke to some of the beneficial medical and educational uses of intimate pleasure products, from helping women with urinary incontinence and rebuilding vaginal strength after childbirth, to the medical benefits of prostate massage.

Wendy Cherry, co-director of the Couples and Sex Therapy Training Program at UCLA and co-founder of AACAST, noted that in spite of the interactive nature of Rodgers' seminar, it nevertheless went off without a hitch as a virtual presentation.

"She was just as amazing online," enthused Cherry. "The students just loved it — so much gratitude to Sunny for such an awesome online lecture."
