LOS ANGELES — AB2389, a proposed bill in the California State Assembly that would require every adult performer in the state to obtain a business license, undergo a criminal history check and be fingerprinted, among other restrictive measures, will not be moving forward as the state pivots to COVID-19 pandemic relief.
AB2389 was introduced into session by Rep. Cristina Garcia and Rep. Lorena Gonzalez.
Michelle L. LeBlanc, Executive Director of Free Speech Coalition (FSC), tweeted tonight that AB2389 has been put on ice.
"We just got word that Asm. Garcia is not moving forward with AB2389," she said, "officially because it is not related to COVID-19. That’s great news! One less thing we have [to] worry about right now."
"It's done," tweeted the FSC tonight. "Thanks to all of you who contacted Asm. Garcia’s office about the harmful AB2389."
