LONDON — U.K.-based company CMG Leisure has shifted their focus from pleasure products to medical accessories to help with efforts to fight COVID-19, according to a Forbes report.
CMG Leisure, makers of the popular Doxy wand vibrator, has been manufacturing “ear savers.” The plastic accessories loop around the back of the head so that hospital personnel “can then hook their face masks onto it, relieving pressure on the backs of the ears,” wrote Forbes.
The ear savers are made using CMG Leisure’s 3D printer, which until now “has primarily been used for making prototypes of sex toys,” Forbes added.
CMG’s William Garland told the BBC that “when the scale of the pandemic became clear, we asked ourselves: what could we do to help with the product we've got? One of our team saw a call-out on social media for extra ear savers, which even included a design which we could do with our 3D printer."
CMG bills itself as "the only company manufacturing vibrators in Britain," making "wand massagers and a butt plug at our factory in Cornwall."
