PHILADELPHIA — Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired the documentary "Pornstar Pandemic: The Guys" for wholesale and digital release later this summer. The film, directed by Edward "EJ" James, follows a group of gay and bisexual adult male performers during the coronavirus pandemic.
Featured models include Dante Colle, DeAngelo Jackson, Jack Loft, Elijah Wilde and Pierce Paris, the reigning XBIZ winner for Gay Performer of the Year.
James, director Alter Sin and publicist Alex Lecomte also appear in the film. The executive producer is Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff.
"Pornstar Pandemic" uses self-produced content and interviews, conducted remotely, to "investigate the daily lives and routines of some of gay porn’s biggest and newest names, covering all angles of the scene from gay to bisexual to gay-for-pay," a rep explained.
"The documentary features the actors during their daily activities, along with their personal thoughts on the current state of the industry and their own roles in it, how the shutdown has affected their lives and livelihood and what’s next once everyone can return to work."
James sought a more emotionally intimate view of the men. "Their lives are often more similar to the average person than many think," he said, "and we wanted to explore that, especially during our current situation. We’re all in this together, and it’s important to highlight that fact."
Wolff found himself "curious about what other industries looked like during the shutdown."
"One night, EJ and I were catching up, and I asked what his talent was up to while their business was more or less closed," he recalled. "We ultimately decided to find out."
Susan Helfrich also produced. Associate Producers were Lecomte, Scott Motisko, Richard Ross and Alter Sin, who also edited the picture.
