Pineapple Support to Host Pride Month Webinar, Support Group

LOS ANGELES — To mark Pride month, Pineapple Support will host a six-week LGBTQ+ support group titled "Queering Sex Work" and a webinar called "Pride From Inside" that are both free to adult industry members.

"Queering Sex Work: Navigating the Industry Within the LGBTQ+ Community" will be led by Andrew Pari and Julie Schiffman, both LGBTQ+ and trauma therapists who have experience working with adult industry members, and will focus on "the role of a sex worker within a sexual identity," a rep explained, and "moving within societal changes like COVID-19 and maintaining self-care physically, financially and in relationships."

The support group opens Wednesday, June 24, from 9 to 10 a.m. (PDT). Click here for additional details and to register.

Schiffman, Samantha  Willis and Hayley Krenzke will co-host the webinar "Pride From Inside: Staying True to You and Those Around You" on Wednesday, June 17 from 5 to 6 p.m. (PDT), but it may run longer.

The group will explore building and creating connections through different avenues within the LGBTQ+ community while addressing "relational challenges and safety issues, whether online or in person," said the rep.

“Human connection is foundational in our relationships, both in how we engage at work and in other parts of our lives,” says Leya Tanit, former performer and the founder of Pineapple Support. “It becomes even more important with how we maintain pride in who we are and how we move with others. As part of Pride month, we want to make sure the LGBTQ+ performers and industry professionals are supported.

Pineapple Support was founded in 2018. The organization, a registered nonprofit in the United States and a registered charity in the United Kingdom, has connected over 1,000 adult performers to mental health services, including free and low-cost therapy, counseling and emotional support.
