LOS ANGELES — Pineapple Support has announced a new Grief and Loss Support Group for adult performers to be led by therapist Rachael Wells. The group will be held online beginning September 2, at 3 p.m. (PDT), and run for six weeks.
“This is a group meant to cover the heart of loss," Wells explained. "Grief and loss cover the range of tragedy, community strife, oppression, loss of a notable person or pet, trauma, and other ranges of suffering. We meet to learn about grief, come to accept ourselves as a valid, grieving individual, and learn tools to cope with the reality of loss."
Pineapple Support founder Leya Tanit looks forward to providing performers with the tools they need.
"Grief and loss can be incredibly complex processes to navigate, and we don’t want anyone in the industry to go through that alone,” she said. “Rachael is a fantastic therapist, specializing in trauma within marginalized communities and provides quality, person-centered therapy. This online group is going to help anyone that is looking for support with their feelings around grief and loss. Space is limited, so reserve your place soon.”
Pineapple Support was founded in 2018. The organization, a registered nonprofit in the United States and a registered charity in the United Kingdom, has connected over 1,000 adult performers to mental health services, including free and low-cost therapy, counseling and emotional support.
