AUSTIN, Texas — Newly launched sexual health and wellness video platform afterglow has announced the addition of Australian actress Caitlin Stasey as a writer-director for short films.
Stasey is noted for Australian television shows such as “Reign” and “Please Like Me” and currently stars in Ed Burns’ Epix series “Bridge and Tunnel.”
“Caitlin’s a fabulous narrative director, and her involvement brings the high-quality, cinematic Hollywood experience we strive for at afterglow,” said company founder and CEO Lilly Sparks. “We’re thrilled to be working with her in reducing the shame and stigma around sex and sex work.”
Stasey began her journey with afterglow by way of her friend, intimacy coordinator and afterglow’s Head of Production Allie Oops, and she currently has several projects in the pipeline.
“Allie met Caitlin while working as an intimacy coordinator and they found a common love for sex positivity,” said a rep.
In addition to “U Up?” and “Lip Service” — the latter recently screened at Dan Savage’s HUMP! Festival — Stasey is prepping the release of three new films that, according to the rep, “beautifully showcase the exquisite spectrum of sexuality among people.”
“Porn sets tend to be a hell of a lot more inclusive than traditional film sets,” Stasey told the New York Times earlier this week. “There’s also a lot more conversations surrounding consent, respect and on-set conduct.”
