LOS ANGELES — Kinkly.com launched a survey this week with the goal of gathering data on people’s masturbation habits. The survey aims to learn more about their motivations, routines, practices and viewpoints. Survey results will be released in May in celebration of Masturbation Month.
"We didn’t come up with Masturbation Month — we have the people at Good Vibrations to thank for that — but we decided to jump on the bandwagon in celebrating it from our earliest days,” Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief Tara Struyk said. “We see so much engagement from readers during Masturbation Month. Clearly, celebrating self-pleasure really resonates with people.”
Previous research conducted by Kinkly explored the issue of faking an orgasm.
This current survey about masturbation habits aims to provide a comprehensive look at how and why people masturbate, as well as their feelings around the practice. The 30-question survey also includes questions about gender identity, sexuality and relationship status. The survey will be available on Kinkly through April.
Participants who finish the survey will receive a 15% discount code to the Kinkly Shop; respondents have the option to remain anonymous.
"We are so excited to get the results from this survey. Although other surveys on masturbation exist, many deal only with very specific aspects of the experience, are medical in nature or are not sex-positive,” Struyk continued. "We aim to deliver some data that is both unique and empowering for people who love self-pleasure."
