NEW YORK — Jiz Lee's anthology "Coming Out Like a Porn Star" (ThreeL Media) has won "Best Thought Leadership" honors from the 2021 Good Sex Awards.
The awards are organized by erotica author and editor Rachel Kramer Bussel and sex-positive story website TheGoodBits.com. Lee was among 45 finalists in eight categories, including "Best Feminist Sex," "Best Kink," "Best Sexy Talk," "Best LGBTQI Scene" and "Sexiest Consent." Each category winner receives $150.
"Thank you to the Good Sex Awards for creating this unique event to celebrate progressive, sex-positive values in literature," said Lee. "Thank you, ThreeL Media, for taking a chance on my book, and for the freedom to run with it — and thank you, Tina Horn, for holding my hand as a new editor."
"My story is about the book’s stories, so none of this would have been possible without its contributors. Thank you to the more than 50 adult film industry professionals who trusted me with their words," Lee continued. "I dedicate this award to two contributors who are no longer with us: Candida Royalle and Jack HammerXL. I hope you’ll read all of our stories, not just my own. If you’d like to order the book, please do so through your local bookshop or library. After that, the next best place to buy the book — and get a signed copy — is directly from my shop here."
A panel of judges included Clementine Ford, broadcaster and bestselling author of "Fight Like a Girl"; Cindy Gallop, founder and CEO of MakeLoveNotPorn; Karen Hawkins, co-host of the "Feminist Erotica" podcast; reviewer Bree Hill; Emily Nagoski, author of New York Times bestseller "Come As You Are"; Zane, New York Times bestselling author; and Stoya, co-founder of ZeroSpaces.com and Slate’s “How To Do It” columnist.
