Fun Factory Marks 25th Anniversary

LOS ANGELES — Fun Factory, a pioneering brand in rechargeable pleasure products, is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The company is partnering with sex educators and entertainers Zoë Ligon (aka Thongria) and Jet Setting Jasmine to shine a spotlight on how far the toy industry has come over the past 25 years, and to celebrate the rising trend in sustainability within the sex toy industry.

"I love to prioritize sustainability in every way, but especially with my pleasure,” Jasmine said. “That is why I’m excited to partner with Fun Factory. They not only make really fun products, they are consciously made and they cater for every body and gender. Purchasing a sex toy can be a daunting experience. There are so many toy brands out there and many of them have questionable manufacturing processes or materials. What I love about Fun Factory is they offer safe low-carbon orgasms. It feels great knowing that I can help support our planet’s bright future to meet their pleasure potential.”

In 1996, Fun Factory co-founders Dirk Bauer and Michael Pahl shaped and molded their very first dildo made out of medical-grade silicone, the Paddy Penguin. Along with pioneering rechargeables, Fun Factory also was among the first to manufacture using medical-grade silicone and to make waterproof toys.

The company reports that it was the first sex toy brand to win a Red Dot Design Award for the Delight vibrator in 2008.

Fun Factory reportedly produces more than 3,000 products every day while maintaining low CO2 emissions; all their products are sustainably designed, produced and packaged in their factory in Germany and are shipped in locally sourced, earth-friendly, recyclable packaging.

“At Fun Factory we love to challenge people, whether that’s challenging our customers to be creative in the bedroom or challenging the industry to make more ethical products," Fun Factory Head of Global Marketing Kristen Tribby said. “We’ve come a long way from the unregulated days of phthalates and PBA. Customers are now making informed purchase decisions. As an industry, we are responsible in making sure we offer sustainable and ethical sex toys.”

Today, Fun Factory is a family business with 28-year-old Jordis Meise, the daughter of co-founder Dirk Bauer, managing marketing for the brand.

“I have watched the industry grow and evolve with new brands popping-up all the time,” Meise said. “Fun Factory started this ball rolling, innovating the industry with well-made and well-engineered products. We’re delighted to see the ball has picked up steam and in 2021 sex toys are in the mainstream and the industry is being taken seriously as a viable business opportunity. Fun Factory has achieved so much over the past 25 years, and just like a BMW, we are built to last and have innovation at our core."

"The next 25 years are going to be a real ride. It feels great to know we are improving people’s lives all while helping them have fun," Meise added.
