Thai Police Unleash Campaign to Arrest OnlyFans Creators

BANGKOK — Thai police arrested several content creators yesterday and published a photo of them being booked as part of a campaign against “people who make obscene videos and photos in exchange for membership fees on websites like OnlyFans.”

The police also warned, before the arrests, that anyone suspected of producing online adult content is “liable to be prosecuted under pornography laws.”

Thailand’s obscenity laws are enforced inconsistently and their harshness contrasts with the country’s reputation as a carefree paradise for tourists.

According to local press, the police arrested a 19-year-old woman and her 20-year-old boyfriend last night at a hotel in Samut Prakan province and charged them with “making and distributing pornographic content for commercial purposes.”

Deputy police spokesman Siriwat Deepor told the press that “violators may also be charged with the Computer Crime Act, which outlaws distribution of pornographic materials on the internet.”
