NEW YORK — Marcela Alonso, content creator and host of the weekly Instagram Live show “Sunday Funday,” is asking fans to help her raise funds on Indiegogo for an original documentary on social media censorship.
Alonso is looking to raise $10,000, with the funds earmarked for filming, editing, securing locations, travel, host expenses and submissions to various film festivals. She plans on interviewing experts on the topic of free speech as well as mainstream figures and entertainers who have felt the sting of social media censorship."
"The purpose of film, titled 'Halt Social Media Censorship,' is to tell unique stories of social media censorship and the impact it has on performers' ability to earn a living,” Alonso explained. “These big tech companies will not hesitate to remove you from their platform if you violate their terms of service. However, how many people are aware of the restrictions that govern joining and being part of the social media machine?”
“I hope to highlight, propel and discuss issues around running a business through social media,” Alonso added.
