Nightclub Promoter Arrested in L.A. Manslaughter Case

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles event promoter David Pearce, who booked mainstream and adult talent at nightclubs, was arrested along with two other men on suspicion of manslaughter in connection to the deaths of two women, 24-year-old model Christy Giles and 26-year-old architect Hilda Cabrales Arzola, who were allegedly given an overdose of drugs while partying and dropped off at hospitals by masked men last month, according to an LAPD report released today.

Pearce, 37, known professionally as David or Dave Bryant, was arrested along with 42-year-old Brandt Osborn and 47-year-old Mike Ansbach.

“According to police reports, homicide detectives began investigating after masked men dropped Giles off at a hospital in Culver City on Nov. 13 and sped away in a black Toyota Prius with no plates,” the Los Angeles Times reported today.

“Giles was unconscious at the time, and soon pronounced dead,” the Times report continued. “Arzola was dropped off at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles hospital a short time later. She was in a coma and in very critical condition. She died Nov. 24 having never regained consciousness, according to investigators.”

Approximately 12 hours before they were dropped at the westside hospitals, the two women were seen at a warehouse party on the east side of Los Angeles. The LAPD alleges that, between those locations, both women were partying at a home on Olympic Blvd. near Beverly Hills, where police believe they overdosed.

Text messages between the women indicate they were trying to leave Pearce’s house and may have called an Uber.

The LAPD expressed concern that, based on its investigation, “there could be other victims in our community who could have been drugged by one or more of these men.”

Pearce was being held on $1 million bail. Ansbach and Osborn's bail was set to $100,000.

A Party Promoter With Ties to the World of Adult

A source confirmed to XBIZ today that Pearce booked adult entertainers to host parties and/or feature dance, and worked at or with several notable nightclubs.

Pearce is listed as the CEO of All Access Entertainment, an El Segundo event organizing company. A Facebook page for the company, last updated in 2016, reads: "We produce some of the biggest events, Get Access into all the hottest Night Clubs and Day clubs Events in Las Vegas with VIP/Express entry."

News reports and photo agency shots list him as a “producer” of events at major clubs in Vegas and other markets.

Pearce was often photographed at nightlife events he organized, like his combined 2008 birthday party and launch party for the show “Pimp My Wheelchair.” He was photographed with Ron Jeremy and other Los Angeles nightlife regulars at the 2009 premiere of Jeremy’s mainstream film, “One-Eyed Monster.”

The Long Shadow of the Violet Rain Case

The case presented by the police against Pearce and his associates — with women ODing at a second private location after being picked up at a public party, and their bodies being dropped at local hospitals — has striking parallels with the March 2019 death of 19-year-old adult performer Violet Rain. Rain remained in a coma for 10 days before passing. That case remains unsolved.
