GoAskAlex Talks Sex, Disability in New Essay for Arousibility

LOS ANGELES — Reigning XBIZ “Cam Model of the Year” and disability advocate GoAskAlex explores sex with an ostomy in a new essay for Arousibility.com.

The performer seeks to shine a spotlight on “her myriad struggles, challenges, triumphs and feats since her 2019 ostomy, which necessitated the removal of her large intestine and the addition of an ileostomy and bag/external ostomy system,” a rep explained.

In the essay, Alex explores the various ways the surgery changed her life.

"I knew from an early age that it was a possibility, but nothing could have prepared me for waking up from surgery with an ileostomy,” she wrote. “I spent a total of one month in the hospital, and it took nearly two months before I could independently walk and care for myself again. This was a massive shift for me, as I had never struggled with mobility before the major surgery that left me with this permanent medical device.”

Like most sex workers, Alex is self-employed and quickly realized that she would have to professionally and financially adapt to her new normal.

“As an adult entertainer, returning to work meant returning to sex; there was no way around it,” she continued. "Not only had I become accustomed to the flexibility and financial comfort of webcam streaming and content creation, but it was only after my surgery that I realized that my medical supplies would cost me upwards of $1,000 per month — yes, for the rest of my life.”

Over time, Alex did become more comfortable onscreen, and with partners, but she has accepted that her journey will never end.

“Ultimately, I have learned that there is no destination, no beginning and end; there is only the continual journey of radical self-acceptance,” she stated. “To anyone who is struggling with their sexuality amidst a disability or chronic illness, I would say this: 'It is a journey of ups-and-downs, and as long as you do your best to be kind to yourself in the process, then you are on the right track.'"
