LOS ANGELES — Wicked Sensual Care’s Jessica Drake was featured in last Sunday’s New York Times Magazine cover story, “The Joys (and Challenges) of Sex After 70.”
Written by Maggie Jones, the article focuses on seniors with fulfilling sex lives.
"Over the course of three years, Ms. Jones and Ilena Silverman, a deputy editor at the magazine, discussed doing a story on the sex lives of seniors,” noted the Times editors via a statement. “During that time, Ms. Jones interviewed nearly 50 people over age 70 about marriage, dating and hooking up, and discovered that not only were octogenarians having sex, but some were having the best, most meaningful sex of their lives.”
The feature, the statement continued, “tells the story of a diverse generation — married, single, straight and queer people of different races — who are finally investing in their pleasure."
In addition to serving as a contributing writer for New York Times Magazine, Maggie Jones teaches writing at the University of Pittsburgh. She has been a Nieman fellow at Harvard University and Senior Ochberg fellow at the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma at Columbia University.
“The comprehensively researched piece,” a rep explained, “is drawn in part from the author's experiences on the set of Drake's award-winning sexual self-help release Jessica Drake's ‘Guide to Wicked Sex: Senior Sex,’ a project created in collaboration with acclaimed author and senior sex authority Joan Price."
Price is the author of “The Ultimate Guide to Sex After 50,” “Naked at Our Age: Talking Out Loud About Senior Sex,” and “Better Than I Ever Expected: Straight Talk About Sex After Sixty.”
"When I met Joan years ago, I realized immediately the impact she was making not only on seniors worldwide but also the educational community," Drake enthused. "She has a gift of authenticity that few can match. I’d wanted to collaborate with her for quite some time to make an educational resource for older adults — generations that missed out on sex education growing up.”
