Kate Kennedy Guests on 'Stripped by Sia' Podcast

LOS ANGELES — Kate Kennedy is a recent guest of the “Stripped by Sia” podcast, hosted by Steph Sia.

“Stripped by Sia” centers on strippers and sex workers, and aims to educate the masses about sex work. A goal of the show is to provide a “safe space for sex workers and service providers to speak about their experiences — the good, the bad and the ugly — with an effort to normalize and de-stigmatize these professions,” a rep explained.

In her appearance, Kennedy speaks about her unusual entry into porn, sex worker activism, the importance of humor in sex work and more.

During the discussion, Kennedy shared how a job working behind the scenes at a small adult production company in Portland, Oregon led to her taking her first baby steps in front of the camera. “Kate loved it so much that she packed her bags and headed for sunny L.A.,” the rep continued. “There, Kate racked up awards and nominations for her work in adult, slowly rising the ranks in the World of X until COVID-19 shut her dreams down.”

From there, Kennedy reflects on her standup comedy work and what it was like to grace many of Hollywood’s oldest comedy venues.

“I had a blast guesting on 'Stripped by Sia,'” Kennedy said. “She’s a doll and we discussed everything from dancing to comedy to life after porn and where the industry is headed next.”

Sia also thought highly of Kennedy’s appearance.

"I was so thrilled to have her on the show. She is an extremely valuable resource in our industry, having worked in so many corners in the community,” Sia said. “We dove headfirst into her introduction to the L.A. comedy scene and how she was able to weave her experiences in sex work into her standup.”

“It’s so important to have leaders and role models like her in the industry instead of other comedians and outsiders, who have never done the (sex) work, punching down on sex workers and picking on outdated stereotypes,” Sia continued. “Not to mention, she is an absolutely hysterical individual.”

Kennedy’s appearance on “Stripped by Sia” can be found on Apple Podcasts, Anchor and other podcast platforms.
