Satisfyer Marks International Women's Day With Social Media Campaign

BERLIN — Satisfyer is marking International Women's Day with an #OwnYourPleasure social media campaign calling upon women worldwide to "own their pleasure and join the conversation about female orgasms."

"Orgasms are known to have multiple benefits for female health, as they release oxytocin to relieve anxiety, improve your mood and boost your immunity," a rep said. "Regular orgasms help regulate your menstrual cycle and to alleviate the experience of cramping pains. Unfortunately, these health-boosting benefits are achieved by a lucky few, as only 39% of cisgender women regularly orgasm during sex (compared to 91% of men), and only 18% vagina-owners orgasm from penetration alone."

"Social pressure and orgasm-related anxiety also play their part in the pleasure gap," added the rep.

Megwyn White is director of education at Satisfyer and a certified clinical sexologist and highlights the importance of self-discovery for "breaking the bias surrounding female sexuality."

“There’s a common misconception that pleasure always comes from the outside, in the form of a partner. Masturbation, however, teaches us that we are ultimately responsible for our pleasure, and that’s a good thing. There will naturally be times that we find ourselves alone, which is why taking pleasure into our own hands is so important," White said.

"Every time you masturbate you have the potential to make new discoveries and deepen your relationship with owning your sexuality and releasing any stigmas and shame," she added. "Shame and stigma only function to stifle our sexual potential."

Satisfyer suggests the following steps towards owning one's pleasure: No faking orgasms; Understand the female anatomy and prioritize female pleasure; Take responsibility for your own pleasure; Don't keep it to yourself; join the conversation.

The company suggests such products as the Satisfyer Sunray, the Double Flex and the Satisfyer A-Mazing 1; and the Love Triangle, Little Secret and Hot Lover for additional exploration.
