LAS VEGAS — Kink.com has released the first episode of “Tainted Love,” a new feature directed by JohnPaul The Pope, starring April Olsen and Quinton James.
The title, to be released weekly in seven installments, co-stars Katie Kush, David Lee, Derrick Pierce, Tommy Pistol, Brooke Johnson and Gia Derza.
According to the director, the new feature is a stylistic departure for him and for Kink.com, and aims to show that “sometimes, BDSM can be sensual and romantic, too."
“I am known for writing and directing hardcore BDSM scenes, as well as horror/thriller features within the same genre,” he explained. “This is the first time I have written anything like this, so I was very nervous, but knew that I needed to write this story at this point in my career. It shows what real BDSM relationships look like, and is written in a way that is very relatable for the viewers.”
“Hopefully it shows the world that it's not all about dark dungeons and torture all of the time,” added the director, who is known to colleagues as "JP."
Olsen described herself as feeling touched and flattered after the director approached her about the project.
“I can relate to my character’s curiosity about the world of BDSM, and how it can seem intimidating to try for yourself,” Olsen said. “Not everyone can pop into a Kink.com studio and play with all the fun crops, whips and cattle prods with a professional Dom on standby — most often, we’re experimenting in the comfort of our own bedrooms.”
“I felt this series did a beautiful job depicting what BDSM can look like for the everyday, curious couple,” Olsen added. “And I really hope it inspires others to pick up a few silk scarves the next time they’re feeling freaky.”
Testing Comfort Levels
Co-star Quinton James enjoyed pushing his boundaries in a new way.
“Testing my comfort levels is something I like, chemistry and passion is something I love — acting and being natural is what I thrive on,” he revealed. “This feature did all that.”
For Katie Kush, it was a change of pace from previous scenes she shared with James.
“Quinton and I have worked a lot together but never [explored] dominance and submission,” she noted. “Creating this story was intriguing, because we truly got to play out our roles and get a feel for how a new Dom and brat coming together would function. It was everything I feel some real-life experiences are like in the kink world and it was an honor to be a part of it.”
Other cast members concurred with the principals in praising JohnPaul The Pope’s “refreshing” and expansive vision of what a Kink.com BDSM scene could feel like.
