MON App Hosts Chat Series 'Break The Stigma' for STD/STI Awareness Week

AUSTIN, Texas — Sex-positive social audio app MON will host chat series “Break the Stigma” this week, aiming to remove the stigma from STD/STI diagnosis through open dialogue with influencers, advocates and organizations.

“As the founder of a platform designed to talk about sex, it’s important that we take the opportunity to discuss the risks, but also create awareness around prevention in an effort to remove the stigma," said MON CEO Caleth Jones.

The series will include talks with sex workers, advocates and activists who will bring their personal experiences to the conversation.

“I love that MON exists to continue the conversation surrounding STIs and sex-positivity in a candid and uncensored way,” said featured panelist Tricia Wise, creator of sex-positive Instagram account Safe Slut.

Also participating in the conversation is HIV activist Tarik Daniels, author of “The Counseling Session.”

“Freedom looks different for everybody, but I know it doesn't include stigma and shame,” said Daniels, who will be discussing their work on creating awareness around HIV prevention.

Sex-and-relationship coach and podcaster Catherine Drysdale, another panelist, explained that “there’s a lot that I learned by trial-and-error, especially when it comes to sex and relationships because platforms like MON didn’t exist when I was navigating these challenges. It’s so important to have a safe space to talk intimately about these topics that are typically seen as taboo, especially in creating awareness and destigmatizing STIs.”

Courtney Brame, mental and sexual health advocate, and podcast host of “Something Positive for Positive People,” said, “Sexual health is mental health, and the sooner we get people on board with the idea, then the more allies we create to combat stigma.”

“MON is the perfect place for that,” Brame concluded.
