LOS ANGELES — GoAskAlex recently served as a guest lecturer at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) for students of professor Constance Penley’s Film & Media Studies class, exploring the subject of sex work and entertainers with disabilities.
Alex launched her adult modeling and camming career in 2014 and "found herself at a crossroads in 2019 when she got the news that would change her life forever: her ulcerative colitis had become so unbearable that she required an ostomy; her entire colon would be removed, with her small intestine rerouted through her abdomen," a rep said.
In the three years since her total abdominal colectomy surgery, continued the rep, Alex has had to make "critical adjustments in order to better accommodate her daily life; her job as an adult performer, however, has blossomed, and in 2022 she enjoys a successful and fulfilling career as a popular and respected content creator," including a 2021 XBIZ Award as "Cam Model of the Year."
“It was an absolute pleasure speaking to the students at UCSB about my disability and my career in sex work,” said Alex. "I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in their education and share my perspective as an adult performer. Conversations like these are paramount to destigmatizing disabilities and the sex work industry as a whole.”
