NEW DELHI — Indian ecommerce site IMBesharam.com celebrates its ninth anniversary today.
Founded in 2013 by Raj Armani and Salim Ranjan, IMBesharam describes itself as a one-stop, multibrand ecommerce shop showcasing the best international brands for Indian hands.
Armani described how his unorthodox business journey began, in a landscape where it was taboo even to talk about adult toys and where people who used them were seen as sex fiends or deviants.
“In the initial years of setting up IMBesharam, our path to becoming a viable business was to create acceptance around adult toys,” Armani said. “We had to tell people that seeking pleasure was not a sin.”
Today, a rep added, “the story for IMBesharam is profoundly different as it marks the breakthrough milestone of delivering more than 1 million orders to date and catering to more than 2 million yearly visits to its website.”
IMBesharam has also been an active supporter of the sex-positivity movement in India, seeking to transform traditional perceptions of pleasure with campaigns such as Great Indian Sex Survey, "What Will People Say?" and Kinky Delhi.
The brand has also partnered with Indian sex educators to help people reconceptualize pleasure in terms of self-love and self-exploration.
“Through its educative and interactive content around sex, gratification and everything around it, the Besharam team strives to encourage Indians to explore, experiment and experience the epitome of their pleasure, every day,” the rep said.
IMBesharam received congratulations upon its ninth anniversary from peer companies PeeSafe, Sirona, Bleu Condoms, Sangya Project and Tickle.life, along with international partners MaleEdge and Satisfyer; youth influencers such as Under 25 Universe, Kajol Tyagi, Anagha Shinde and Divya Dhawan; sexual wellness influencers Pallavi Barnwal and Aili Seghetti; and medical practitioners Dr. Niveditha and Dr. Rashi.
