NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ruby Cooper, winner of the 2022 Madame Margherite Animal International contest, will be holding an animal-themed dance party and fundraiser at the Bullet Bar in North Hollywood on Oct. 7 to raise money for LGBTQ foster youth.
The event, called The Zoo, will feature kink and drag performances, and an animal-themed costume contest, with prizes sponsored by Andrew Christian and Monarchy Jewels.
"Building a strong sense of community is especially essential for transitional-age LGBTQ youth, who may be too old for teen programs but still too young to experience the 21+ queer nightlife scene," said Cooper, who is also a social worker at First Place for Youth, a nonprofit that provides housing and mentorship to 18-23 year old foster youth. "Many of our LGBTQ youth have experienced family rejection and have a deep desire for connection."
Funds raised will be used toward establishing The BRIGHTY Project, which will organize free community-building events for LGBTQ foster youth.
