Nintendo Reportedly Now Banning Depictions of Nude Female Breasts

TOKYO — According to game publisher Gamuzumi, Nintendo has changed its nudity policies to prohibit “uncensored boobs” on its consoles.

Gamuzumi publishes erotic gaming titles such as “Elves Fantasy Hentai Puzzle,” “Insider Her (Bedroom)” and “Beauty Bounce.” The company shared the news with its Twitter followers on Sept. 30.

The move would affect Nintendo’s popular personal gaming platform Switch, noted U.K. newspaper The Standard.

The Nintendo Switch “may not be most people’s go-to destination for adult entertainment, but dig far enough into the eShop and you can find plenty of titles that blur the line between game and softcore porn,” the Standard explained, singling out popular game “Hentai Uni,” the tagline of which is “a puzzle game that can be played with one hand.”

Gamuzumi’s frank tweet, the Standard’s Alan Martin wrote today, “lifted the lid on a new, more puritanical approach from Nintendo.”

“We received an answer from Nintendo and now we have a confirmation that they do not allow uncensored boobs on their consoles,” Gamuzumi tweeted, adding that the Japanese gaming giant claimed that “basically, obscene content could damage the brand and infringe its policies.”

“This means that now all games with boobs nudity should be censored and that’s why our game ‘Hot Tentacles Shoot’ was rejected in the first place,” Gamuzumi stated.

Depending on how the new policy is enforced, the Standard report continued, “it could impact more mature games on Switch.”

The Witcher 3, Martin pointed out, contains both nudity and full sex scenes, “which should fall foul of any change to the policy” if it is applied retroactively.

The Standard reached out to Nintendo about the new nudity policies, but did not receive a reply as of publication.
