OAKLAND, Calif. — Veteran pleasure products retailer and local community figure Nenna Joiner is on the ballot today for a seat on the Oakland City Council.
Joiner, who has owned and operated the boutique Feelmore Adult Gallery for 13 years, is running in Oakland's 4th district.
On their campaign website, Joiner describes themself and their priorities:
“A 27-year resident of Oakland and 13-year brick-and-mortar small-business owner in the City of Oakland — I am Oakland's Advantage. We don't need another politician in City Hall. We need someone with real-life Oakland experience who is desperate for change.
“Effective leadership does not wait for town halls to determine the issues. As a small-business owner I've lived the problems that Oaklanders struggle with every day — trash removal, burglaries, violent crime, dangerous traffic — and am now ready to work on behalf of all D4 residents to streamline Oakland's service model to be actionable and measurable. Let's actually fix these problems instead of just talking about them!”
Joiner is campaigning on a platform of cleaning up neighborhoods and improving schools, welcoming businesses and artists to “grow vibrant, diverse neighborhoods” and delivering “responsive, high-quality city services to everyone living, playing and doing business in Oakland.”
