Amorelie Releases Results of French Sex Survey

PARIS — French online retailer Amorelie has made public the results of a survey it conducted earlier this year on sexual practices and fantasies in France and Belgium.

The report, timed to commemorate Amorelie's 10th anniversary, is titled “Le Sexe Connecte” and incorporates responses from 2,000 French-speakers in those countries.

French men, on average, told Amorelie that they masturbate 9.7 times per month, compared to 3.6 times per month among women, although that figure is counterweighted by the 39% of women who reported never masturbating.

Thirty-three percent of French women reported using sex toys, but only 10% of French men said they do. Thirty-seven percent of all respondents reported watching porn at least once a month.

According to the survey, 4% of the respondents reported having sex every day while 7% said they were celibate. While 31% answered that they engage in sex several times a week, 39% said they have sex several times a month. Nineteen percent reported having sex once a month.

The report also finds that 33% of French people prefer being seduced and 15% prefer being the seducer, but a plurality, 44%, are flexible on the matter, having replied, “It depends.”

One in five respondents said they would like to have more variety in sexual practices, and more than one in four reported having desires that are not fulfilled in their current relationship.

The survey also revealed that more French people fantasize about threesomes and group sex than those actually acting on it. However, more people have practiced Tantric or "slow" sex than those fantasizing about it.

Visitors to the survey site can also answer the survey questions themselves in the form of a quiz.
