Adam & Eve Reveals Results of Contraceptives Survey

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Adam & Eve has shared the results of a new survey asking the question, “Do you believe there should be age restrictions for contraceptives?”

Among poll respondents, 53% said there should not be age restrictions for contraceptives, with 51% of males and 54% of females opposing such restrictions.

By contrast, 30% of respondents said contraceptives should only be available to people aged 18 and older, with 34% of males and 27% of females favoring such a limit.

Finally, 17% of respondents said they were unsure either way.

“The issue here is these numbers are ever-changing,” said Dr. Jenni Skyler, resident sexologist at Adam & Eve. “With fears that birth control restrictions could follow abortion bans, Americans are rightly concerned about reproductive rights. Although I can understand a parent’s wish for their children not to be sexually active before a certain age, offering birth control has been shown to decrease the age of engagement because it somewhat demystifies sexuality. It also opens the gate for parent-child communication about this important topic.”

The web-based survey of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, conducted by an independent company, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
