BEND, Ore. — Holistic Wisdom has released a guide on corporate support for the LGBTQ+ community (aka rainbow washing) during Pride Month.
“The guide explores critical issues surrounding marketing by companies and institutions when their solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community is genuine and when it is not,” said a rep. “With the recent boycotts and controversies surrounding LGBTQ+ marketing by Anheuser-Busch and Target, some companies are having their loyalty tested.”
Dr. Lisa Lawless, Holistic Wisdom CEO and the author of the guide, emphasized the impetus for the guide.
"The LGBTQ+ community continues to experience rising hate crimes, increased discrimination and record-breaking harmful legislation," she said. "A company's actions and values should align with using LGBTQ+ symbols in marketing to avoid community exploitation and abandonment."
