LOS ANGELES — Amid speculation that Gwyneth Paltrow is planning to launch a “This Tastes Like My Vagina” chocolate line, as a follow-up to her successful “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle, the actor and Goop entrepreneur has applied for several risque trademarks.
Earlier this week, tabloids in the U.S. and the U.K. reported that Paltrow intended to release a line of chocolate and candy branded as “This Tastes Like My Vagina.”
On Thursday, a Paltrow rep told U.K. newspaper Metro that “Goop is not planning on launching any products in the chocolate category.”
According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), however, Paltrow’s company, Heretic Beauty Inc., applied in May 2020 for the trademark “This Tastes Like My Vagina” under the category of “staple foods,” which includes “coffee, tea, cocoa, sugar, rice, tapioca, sago, artificial coffee; flour and preparations made from cereals, bread, pastry and confectionery, ices; honey, treacle; yeast, baking-powder; salt, mustard; vinegar, sauces (condiments); spices; and ice.”
A month earlier, the company applied for the trademark “This Tastes Like My Orgasm,” also for staple foods.
Both trademarks predate the "This Smells Like My Vagina" candle trademark.
The USPTO’s full report reveals that Heretic Beauty Inc. has also applied to trademark the following phrases: Dirty Coconut, Dirty Gingerbread, Dirty Vanilla, Dirty Gardenia, Dirty Laundry, Dirty Mango, Dirty Dish, Dirty Rose, Dirty Peach, Dirty Rose, Dirty Grass, Dirty Grapefruit, Dirty Banana, Dirty Santa, Dirty Chai, Dirty Bird, Dirty Lingerie and Dirty Books.
Paltrow’s company also applied to trademark the word “Pornament” in the category of “cosmetics and cleaning preparations” and several more generic names like The Spiritualist, The Mycologist, The Naturalist, The Arborist, The Herbalist and others.
Then, three months ago, Paltrow also filed a trademark in several categories for a design of a gingerbread person biting on a ball gag and strapped with BDSM restraints.
Although it is unclear at this point whether Paltrow and Goop plan to move forward with products matching these trademarks, the success of the “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle suggests that there may be more products on the horizon from Goop’s sex-branded lines.
