LAS VEGAS — The Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas has been named title sponsor of UNLV’s new Sexual Entertainment and Economies collection.
The program launch will be free for anyone to attend, and it will take place on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 1-8 p.m. (PST), at the UNLV's Beverly Rogers Literature & Law Building, Room 101. The event includes a symposium, in the afternoon, and a reception, in the evening, featuring a discussion with the donors of the inaugural collection, Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano. Free refreshments will be provided.
"The preservation and archiving of sexual materials provides an unfiltered look into the most intimate spaces human beings share,” said the museum’s director, Dr. Victoria Hartmann. “It gives us insight into how people express themselves sexually unencumbered by propriety and the judgments of others. Nevada has a unique history as being one of the few states where sexuality has entire industries built around it — from topless shows to legal brothels. The EHM is thrilled to sponsor this initiative at UNLV and its efforts to create a foundation for academics to pursue studies in Human Sexuality at a top-tier university.”
