Pornhub Celebrates Black History Month With New Initiatives

MONTREAL — Pornhub is celebrating Black History Month throughout February with a series of initiatives shining the spotlight on Black performers’ achievements.

These achievements, the company’s announcement explained, reflect Pornhub’s “core values and contribute to the platform’s diversity, authenticity, and originality.”

The company described Black History Month as “a time to honor the remarkable contributions Black people have made to communities around the world” and to reaffirm their commitment “to the ongoing effort against racial injustice.”

The Black History Month initiatives include a donation to the BIPOC Adult Industry Collective, an organization offering resources, education and support services to help fight racism in the adult entertainment industry.

“The organization pursues this mission through various programs and activities designed to help community members reach their goals and fulfill their potential,” a rep noted.

Homepage ads in select countries will also promote active Black models and channels that feature Black performers and have contributed to Pornhub’s success over the years.

“When a viewer clicks on the ad, it directs them to that model’s profile or channel page to help boost their exposure,” the rep explained. “For models, this potential increase in views has a direct and positive impact on their earnings. For channels, this exposure helps viewers discover their paysite for potential paid monthly memberships.”

Different highlighted models will be showcased every few days throughout February.

In addition to those initiatives, Pornhub has launched the Black Model Spotlight Series, where Black performers “can share their unique experiences and successes in the industry and give viewers a first-hand look into their hobbies and interests.”

“Our team is committed to fighting the stigma associated with sex work year-round,” the rep explained. “This Black History Month, we’re contributing to this goal by humanizing performers and creating links of recognition and understanding with those outside the adult entertainment industry through the Black Model Spotlight Series.”

The company is also encouraging Black performers to join its Model Program to start monetizing their own content.

“During our 2023 Year in Review, we learned ‘Ebony’ is the most searched term in the U.S.,” the rep said. “It is also the third most popular category worldwide. Viewers love to see Black performers producing spicy content.”
