BOSTON — Sssh is debuting “The Budapest Affair,” the third collaborative effort between the Angie Rowntree-led studio and Sensual-X’s Dennis Claes.
Written and directed by Claes, “The Budapest Affair” stars Cherry Candle, Dave Candle and Talia Mint. Set against the stunning architecture and richly historic culture of Budapest, the story follows Talia, a photographer in search of inspiration who recently moved to Budapest to immerse herself in the city’s thriving arts scene.
“During a photoshoot, Talia meets Dave, a fellow art aficionado who is immediately drawn in by Talia’s artistic vision,” the synopsis reveals. “Their shared passion for art sparks an unexpected night of intimacy — as well as an equally unexpected and fraught emotional journey. Unaware of Dave’s existing relationship, Talia becomes entangled in his life. When Dave's girlfriend Cherry discovers his infidelity, she plans to confront Talia but instead finds herself inexplicably drawn to her, much as Dave was, enchanted by Talia's artistic spirit and beauty. As Talia, Dave and Cherry wrestle with their intertwining and conflicting emotions, the lines between friendship, love and desire become increasingly blurred.”
The three characters, a rep said, “are compelled to face their deepest fears, challenge societal norms and redefine their own understanding of love and fidelity.”
Claes said that working with Sssh has opened up his world in several ways.
“It has allowed me to gain the confidence to do bigger projects and think beyond my own limitations so I can keep growing as an artist,” he shared. “They’ve helped boost my confidence since my first project, leading up to this feature film with a rich storyline that spans multiple locations and characters. Partnering with Sssh means being embraced as part of their team and having your No. 1 fan at your side.”
Rowntree praised Claes’ skills and sensibilities as a filmmaker, calling “The Budapest Affair” another triumph of his “imaginative and beautiful storytelling.”
“'The Budapest Affair' is both a story about artistic passion and an expression of artistic passion, and for a film like that to succeed as this one does requires true craftsmanship,” Rowntree noted. “As always, his work stands out for its authenticity, which is reflected in the outstanding performances given by Talia, Dave and Cherry, as well.”
