Cherie DeVille Toplines New Digital Playground Sci-Fi Thriller 'Project X'

LOS ANGELES — 2023 XBIZ Performer of the Year Cherie DeVille headlines the new sci-fi thriller from Digital Playground, titled "Project X."

Directed by Ricky Greenwood, the title co-stars Luna Star, Monique Alexander, Ryan Reid, Mick Blue, Alex Jones, Hollywood Cash and Tommy Pistol.

The feature follows the events after an unidentified flying object crashes at a remote location.

"A mysterious, ravishing woman known only as ‘The Entity’ (Star) is pulled from the wreckage," the synopsis reveals. "Captain Bullock (Alexander) summons top scientists Dr. Allie Sharpe (DeVille), Dr. John Harding (Blue) and Dr. Carl Ladner (Jones) to study her condition, which they fear is contagious. When the patient suddenly awakens and takes their colleague hostage, they find themselves locked in a battle for the fate of humanity as we know it.

"With the help of Captain Bullock and Lieutenants Myers and Hunt (Reid and Cash) the scientists race against the clock to unravel the mystery. What they discover makes this already complicated situation even more complex."

A rep for Digital Playground elaborated on the premise and praised the cast and crew.

"'Project X' was a complex and challenging project," the rep said. "We wanted to pay homage to some of our favorite sci-fi thrillers, with as much action and movie magic packed in as possible. Ricky and his crew gave it their all, and our stellar cast gave career-defining performances. Flying colors doesn’t even begin to cover it."

Added Greenwood, "'Project X' was an amazing production. It really feels like a blockbuster movie, from the crew, cast and all the effort we put into the project. Everyone was on top of their game, I’m pretty sure the fans will have a lot of fun and love what Digital Playground is cooking."

DeVille enthused about shooting with the XBIZ Award-winning director.

"Working with Ricky Greenwood on Project X was an incredible experience," she said. "His direction truly brought out the best in all of us, creating an environment where creativity and professionalism thrived. Playing Dr. Allie Sharpe, a brilliant scientist tasked by the government to investigate an alien landing, was both challenging and rewarding. Ricky’s vision and guidance made it easy to dive into the role and bring this intense, high-stakes story to life."

Star also complimented the director and her co-stars.

"The entire cast was incredible for Project X and I’m super excited to see the final product," she said. "I know the hours and hours spent in makeup to become The Entity really paid off. One of my favorite scenes was an intense monologue I had and Ricky Greenwood helped me to bring out my best performance."

Mick Blue, the 2022 XBIZ Award winner for Male Performer of the Year, said, "Jumping into the life of Dr. Harding was super fun. His character was very easy to combine with my life experiences and felt great to bring alive. 'Project X' is definitely a movie to remember this year. And last but not least, the scene I did with Cherie was definitely one of my best this year. I love the true chemistry I always find with her."

The first scene from "Project X" premieres Sept. 2 on DigitalPlayground; the subsequent three installments will drop throughout the month.
