Adult Time Premieres Bree Mills' Psychological Thriller 'Birth'

MONTREAL — Adult Time has released its latest feature, multi-XBIZ Award winner Bree Mills' psychological thriller "Birth."

Written and directed by studio CCO Mills, the title stars Casey Calvert, Leana Lovings, Seth Gamble, Tommy Pistol, Daniel Shar, Robby Apples and Codey Steele.

"Calvert and Gamble play married couple Laura and Matthew, who decide to seek help from fertility specialist Doctor Bill (Shar)," the synopsis reveals. "When Laura finally becomes pregnant, her journey to motherhood is rife with severe morning sickness and unsettling dreams.

"A doula (Lovings) is hired to assist Laura, but soon her bond with Matthew grows uncomfortably close, and Laura becomes more disconnected as her dreams evolve into vivid, unsettling fantasies involving three strangers (Pistol, Apples and Steele), while Doctor Bill observes and takes notes. Caught in the chaos of her mind, Laura begins to question whether her dream of starting a family is turning into a nightmare."

Mills enthused about helming a feature for the first time in five years.

"This is the first original feature I’ve written and directed for Adult Time since 2019 and it feels so nice to be back in the zone after spending the last few years helping others tell their stories," she said. "To be able to do this with a group of people who mean so much to me makes it the ultimate come back."

Last month, XBIZ visited the set of "Birth" while it was in production.

"When I wrote ‘Birth,’ I didn’t want to think about it like a ‘comeback’ movie; I just wrote it because I had a story to tell," Mills told XBIZ at the time.

"What do we have that is interesting and attractive as a proposition to talent?" she continued. "Because these days, talent doesn’t have to work for anybody — and they certainly don’t need to prioritize studio work. So for us, it’s really important to create pathways for talent that have the skills and the dedication and want to grow within the industry."

"Birth" is streaming on AdultTime.
