Chanel Camryn: From Alaska Bikini Barista to Breakout Starlet

As a proud, outdoorsy Alaskan, Chanel Camryn is unfazed by our very important first interview question: Has she ever encountered a bear?

“Never face to face,” she replies. “I’ve seen them from the car, on the side of the road. This past July, when I went back for the first time after two years living in LA and doing porn, I saw some bears from a train. But I most definitely know more than a few people who have been attacked. The wrestling coach at my high school was attacked one year by a mama bear down at the airport! He came pretty close to not making it, but he survived.”

But they look so cute…

“They are not cute!” she scolds. “I avoid them. You can smell them before they come near you.”

You can smell bears?

“Yeah, they smell like garbage,” she explains. “The closest bear encounter I ever had, I was walking up to a breakfast place in Girdwood, Alaska. We were camping there for the weekend, and there was a black bear. He was a smaller one, but he was walking around through the garbage cans and everything. I was telling people to get in their cars! But it’s an everyday experience for them. And I’m like, ‘I’m not eating breakfast next to a black bear! I’m sorry, it’s not happening.’”

Chanel’s ursophobia is a notable, though perhaps understandable, exception to her general love for animals. She recently adopted a cat that a friend found on the streets, and the new pet turned out to have special needs.

“She’s a cutie, but she’s a little handful,” Chanel gushes. “She has a tail-pull injury, so she has to wear a diaper, and I’m working on getting a surgery to get her tail removed. Life will be easier for her without it dragging behind her. I’ve got two, now: Sirius and Bellatrix, because I’ve got to keep up with my Harry Potter theme.”
