Editor Graham Brown called Penthouse “Australia’s number one adult men’s magazine.” He went on to say, “Our 2004 finalists represent some smart, sexy and dynamic ladies. All the finalists will be in Sydney for the Pet of the Year event, and it’s guaranteed to be a sexy and glamorous affair.”
Beauties from both Australia and New Zealand are competing for the Pet of the Year title and $40,000 in prizes. The finalists include 23-year-old New Zealander Hayley-Marie who attained fame by posing for the March 2004 cover. “I’m seen as something of a pioneer, being the first ever Kiwi cover girl. Hopefully it will encourage other N.Z.,” she said.
Other contestants who are going to Sydney for the affair hail from all over Down Under. 20-year-old Brooke comes from the Gold Coast, Queensland. Brooke called appearing in Penthouse a “liberating and incredibly sexy experience.” Other finalists are from Townsville, Queensland, and across the continent at Perth, in Western Australia.
The Penthouse Pet of the Year event is taking place at the Establishment, a posh hotel located near the harbor in Sydney’s financial district. Appropriately enough, the Establishment offers its guests two luxurious penthouse suites.
As the Australian edition of Penthouse prepared to observe its quarter century milestone, on Aug. 12 a New York bankruptcy judge approved a reorganization plan for General Media Inc., the publisher of Penthouse magazine.
