ASACP Honors Lawrence Walters With Annual Service Recognition Award

LAS VEGAS – During the 3rd annual XBiz Awards at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Resort, Adult Sites Against Child Pornography presented its 2005 Annual Service Recognition Award to veteran First Amendment attorney Lawrence G. Walters.

Executive Director Joan Irvine took the stage at the House of Blues gala event to honor Walters' service to ASACP and its battle against child pornography within the adult entertainment industry.

Irvine praised Walters for providing the organization with pro-bono services, given its limited financial resources.

"Most associations would not have the benefit of such expertise," Irvine said. "When legal questions arise or before we implement new services, we ask Larry for his opinion. He is always available to us. We very much appreciate Larry’s help."

Walters is a partner in the firm of Weston, Garrou & DeWitt, with offices in Orlando, Los Angeles and San Diego. He founded the Internet Freedom Association and is on the Internet Committee of the Free Speech Coalition. In 1997, Walters formed the Florida Bar's First Amendment Law Committee, which he currently chairs. Since the mid-90s, Walters has devoted his practice to Internet, gambling, advertising law and representing adult webmasters in connection with the regulation and protection of online content.

Walters has also appeared on national television programs as "48 Hours", "20/20", "Fox Files" and "The O'Reilly Factor" on numerous occasions as a crusader for the First Amendment and freedom of expression.
