Ramco Releases ‘Clown Porn’; Big In Europe

SAN DIEGO — Ramco Productions and their “pornomedy,” a blend of comedy and adult film, have unveiled the first in a planned series of films called “Clown Porn.”

Described by producer and director Chris Spoto as a “hardcore Monty Python,” the movie features the acting talent of Hollie Stevens, Jenna Brooks and Hef Pounder, as well as a fair amount of grease paint, rainbow wigs and cream pies.

“Clown Porn,” created on a shoestring budget over several months, melds sketch comedy with adult film in a series of five vignettes, with interludes between each act that feature a slick-haired narrator. Several sequels are already in the works.

“We have a whole clown porn franchise,” Spoto told XBiz. “We’re hoping to release about one movie per month that follows a similar formula.”

According to Spoto, the idea for clown porn was born when he and fellow Ramco co-founder David Quitmeyer were working at an adult website.

“My partner David and I were running a live cam website at the time,” Spoto said. “And, one day, he just pushes back from his desk and says, ‘I’ve got it. Clown porn.’ From there, it just wrote itself.”

“It was actually a pretty natural idea,” Spoto said. “I mean, everyone likes to laugh and everyone likes hardcore action, so we figured, ‘Why not put them together?’”

Spoto said that casting for the film wasn’t difficult, but that a certain type of individual was required.

“We were really looking for characters,” Spoto said. “For people who actually got the concept and weren’t just going to do it for money.”

“Plus, there’s that whole clown threshold that many people just would not cross,” Spoto said. “But that’s one of the great things about it. Clowns are really a galvanizing force. People either love them or they hate them, but they always get a response.”

Interest in the film has been very high since it was released, according to Spoto, who said Ramco is currently in talks with several distributors and has received inquiries from Rolling Stone and the BBC.

Internationally, the film has piqued much curiosity as well, with companies in both Asia and the United Kingdom showing a lot of interest.

“It’s huge in Japan,” Spoto said. “ And Great Britain, the Netherlands and most of Europe, really. Who knew?”

The film, priced at $22.50, is available at the Ramco Productions website
