FSC Launches NoStrippingLiberty.org

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — The Free Speech Coalition has added another tool to its arsenal with NoStrippingLiberty.org.

With help from the American Civil Liberties Union, the FSC created the website so that industry supporters can fax letters to their congressional representatives in opposition to current federal law under the Patriot Act.

“This new initiative is all about privacy rights,” the FSC’s Kat Sunlove told XBiz. “We’ve used the ACLU’s interface that includes [a template of] language that can be used to tell our government’s leaders why the Safe Act needs to be passed.”

The Safe Act, S 1709/HR 3352, would amend some of the Patriot Act’s provisions, placing limitations on the use of surveillance and the issuance of search warrants, and for other purposes.

“Of course, the user of the website can add their own language as well,” said Sunlove, who noted that the FSC is about to launch a mirroring site, NoStrippingGayLiberty.org.

Internet users who surf the site are greeted by a FSC homepage fronted by adult star Keylani Lei, and then redirected to the ACLU’s site.

The Chatsworth, Calif.-based organization ran a trial of the program at the recent Adult Entertainment Expo, where more than 400 attendees took a moment to send a note to their representatives in Congress, Sunlove said.

“It really is important to get the message across that the Patriot Act’s powers have been misused for fishing expeditions,” Sunlove said. “You’ve got to ask yourself, ‘Do you value your privacy rights?’”
