BB Entertainment head Paul Interlandi said his company is not the first to think of publishing a directory of industry contacts, but it is aiming to be the first to list every vendor, supplier, distributor and crew member an adult professional would need to shoot, edit and bring a video to market.
“If you’re new to this business and you’re trying to put together a production, and you need a crew, where do you start?” Interlandi told XBiz. “There are directories of companies, but not people. And if you pick up the phone book and start calling camera men, gaffers and grips, you’re going to get your ear hung up on a bunch of times.”
Interlandi said the idea for the P.I.N.K. Pages, which stands for Porn Industry Networking Knowledge, came to him while BB Entertainment was undertaking the monumental task of restoring the one existing master of “Deep Throat.”
After getting turned away by three film labs, Interlandi realized there was a need for a comprehensive industry resource guide for both first-time entrepreneurs shooting low-budget gonzo and seasoned veterans making full-length features.
Interlandi and Joey Strange, sales manager at BB Entertainment’s sister company, Freedom Distributing, started pulling together every resource they could find.
“Joey and I have been in this business for a long time, and we’ve also asked other directors and producers for their crew contacts,” Interlandi said. “It’s not just people. It’s also places that will rent equipment for adult, places that will do printing for adult — everything someone needs to produce and release a movie.”
Broken into categories such as crew, locations, permits and post production, The P.I.N.K. Pages will list everything from directors and talent agencies to replicators and distributors. Performers, however, will not be listed individually.
The P.I.N.K. Pages also will offer display advertising. “Our highest-priced ad only runs $600, for full color,” Strange said. “And that runs all year. If someone gets one job out of it, they’re in the gravy.”
